What to put on the invoice

Name the deliverable and agreed revision allowance. Use quantity one for a fixed milestone and hours for time-based work. Keep third-party expenses on separate lines.

Example line items

The following amounts are fictional examples, before tax or discounts. Use your own agreed prices.

Landing-page design — approved final files | 1 × 600
Extra revisions, agreed 18 September | 2 hours × 60

A practical document sequence

Start with a quote for the scope. Track actual hours on a timesheet if needed, invoice the approved milestone, and record a receipt only after payment arrives.

A mistake to avoid

A vague line such as freelance work gives the customer little to approve. Reference the milestone or service period without putting confidential project content in the invoice.
