First ask whether it has been sent
A draft still on your device is easier to revise than a document already in the customer’s records. Before changing it, identify the incorrect field and whether the correction changes the price, tax, payment status or just a contact detail.
If it is still a draft
Correct the field in the editor, check the live preview and verify related values. Changing a quantity can change the subtotal, tax and balance. Export a fresh PDF and avoid accidentally sending an older downloaded copy.
If the customer already has it
Keep a copy of the original. Save a version and export a backup before making changes. Tell the customer what was wrong and which document supersedes or adjusts it. Do not silently reuse a number in a way that leaves two conflicting versions in circulation.
Know the tool’s limits
The required correction process depends on your applicable invoicing and tax rules. You may need a credit note or another formal adjustment; this app does not generate a jurisdiction-specific correction document. Check the appropriate process with your accountant before changing a sent tax invoice.
Use a final review checklist
Once the correction is prepared, check the whole document rather than only the field you edited.
- Correct business and customer billing details.
- Unique or appropriately referenced document number.
- Recognizable scope, quantities, agreed rates and currency.
- Correct tax, discount and verified payment amounts.
- Clear dates, payment instructions and a reference to the original where appropriate.
